I took a walk with my shadow today. We started by simply keeping each other company. Soon, though, it began sharing stories about me. Then, we took selfies (well, of course). Walking with my shadow was an unexpected opportunity to see myself from a new perspective.
We know that first impressions matter. We know that the brain the brain interprets what it picks up in our body language in milliseconds and makes judgement calls about us based on what it notices. Yet, it’s rare for us to get an objective glimpse of how others might see us.
Imagine you were on a walk with your shadow.
- What might your posture say about you?
- Are your shoulders down and relaxed or tense and up by your ears?
- What does your pace and gate reflect?
What else might your shadow have to say?
